Recyling, drinking from re-usable cups, saving water… Doing our part for the environment has become second nature. But what about fashion? If you’re like me, there are a lot of labels like Zara and XXI in your closet, brands that are definitely known more for great fashion at affordable prices then for being earth-friendly.
Enter Montreal-based (and international label) Harricana by Mariouche. Specialized in vintage furs, her boutique is a treasure trove of fur vests, coats, boots and hats of all kinds. If you’re thinking about spicing up your cold weather wardrobe with something furry – and who isn’t: fur was all over the FW09 runways – I’d definitely recommend that you pop into her store or website for something chic, snuggly and best of all, recycled.
And if you have Grandma’s coat lying around, you can bring it in and have it either made into a new style or into some accessories. Come spring, you’ll be able to do the same with wedding dresses – a gift certificate would make a perfect congrats-on-your-divorce present, no?

Statement accessories — be it a necklace, pair of earrings, ring, belt, you name it! — have been around for a few seasons and here at LOULOU, we’re still feeling the love for them. We recently all fell for headbands and our most recent object of obsession is this $8 necklace from XXI (a.k.a Forever 21). Janna first spotted it on a lunchtime spree and Joanna and I each snapped one up. Back at the office, the coveted tangled chain necklace got rave reviews and Mélanie and Stephanie each got one as well (Steph even shows it off in a video on her blog — minute 9 for an up-close-and-personal view).

One of my favourite things on the XXI site right now: A stacked ring set for $5.80!
If you’re like me, you’ve filled up your virtual Forever 21 shopping cart countless times, only to chicken out when it comes to checking out. $8.95 for shipping is reasonable, but not when you’re buying an $11 dress!
Happily, the American brand is offering free shipping until tomorrow — add that to your list of things to be thankful for! There’s no minimum purchase and you can even shop two hard to find collections (Love 21, F21’s more sophisticated collection and Faith 21, the plus-size label).
I don’t know about you but e-shopping is one of my favourite way to procrastinate after a long weekend!
