LOULOU Beauty Editor, Joanna Campbell, volunteering at the St Jude Children's Home in Gulu, Uganda. Photo by Éléonore Gauthier.
This past summer I took a sabbatical from my job as a Beauty Editor and travelled to Northern Uganda, where I volunteered at an orphanage for a two months. It was, hands down, the best thing I’ve ever done. Now that I’m home, I’m happy to keep busy doing my LOULOU job and doing humanitarian work.
I recently joined a Montreal-based non-profit organization, The Mercy Project, that does fundraising for health-care initiatives for children, in areas where access is limited. A few days ago the Montreal Gazette featured our organization, and I wanted to pass it along.
