Vogue hearts Sorel boots

Sorel Joan of Arcadia boots, $180 at Browns

Sorel Joan of Arctic boots, $180 at Browns

Last January, I got a little bit desperate searching for Sorel’s Joan of Arctic boots — and finally gave up when all stores (and some secret sources, too!) had the same answer: Sold out. Well now it seems as though the obsession is going to start all over again after watching today’s edition of 60 Seconds to Chic on Vogue.TV: It’s called “Winter Chic” and features three pairs of (wildly styled) Sorel boots. While all signs point to advertorial, it’s still interesting to see Vogue’s fashion-y take on  these boots which, admittedly, were probably reserved for shovelling snow and walking the dog just a few years back.

I’m curious to hear what you think: Would you wear Sorels with a skirt to the office? What about paired with a cocktail dress? And are going to snap up a pair ASAP (P.S. Browns appears to have full stock)?

Letterman talks Fashion

Wild1 / PR Photos. Anna Wintour in May at the 69th Annual American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala

All the fashion blogs are talking about it. What took place late last night (definitely past my weekday witching hour: thank god for youtube). Anna Wintour on David Letterman. It was her first television segment, and since Vogue is pretty much at the helm of, well, everything fashion (or so some of us Wintour-ites like to believe) I’m not so-secretly hoping this is the beginning of TV appearances by some of our favourite editors. Next up? Carine Roitfeld interviewed by Larry King tops my list.

Back to Anna. With The September Issue just around the corner (it hits English Canadian theaters on the 23rd of October, NYC this week and L.A on the 11th of September), the ever-composed (Christine was noting everything up to her laugh is calculated) American Vogue editor stopped by Letterman’s studio wearing a Carolina Herrera number and her signature black-out sunnies (though she was decent enough to remove them for the interview) to promote the film, the magazine (because even Condé Nast needs some help in this tough financial climate) and keeping an eye out for the details: “I see that you have some very interesting socks” she told the self-proclaimed un-fashion-savvy host, suggesting he look into Thom Browne’s short length pants to show off footwear. I was slightly disappointed by the interview: David was interrogating her about her ice-queen reputation (we all know she’s the toughest boss there is and to work for her would be a mere privilege) but I wanted to hear about her personal life: where she vacations, where she eats lunch, some sort of a glimpse into the life of Ms.Vogue. Alas, I got an un-provoking glimpse of her body language (stiff and frigid) and some very well thought-out retorts on the way she runs her publication. Oh and if you only have $20, Anna suggests you buy lipstick which is an interesting reply given the times and the lipstick effect.

Didn’t see the interview? Catch up here. And if you haven’t read Front Row Anna Wintour by Jerry Openheimer: it’s an inspiring must-read with exclusive accounts on her life that date as far back as her teenage years (her dismal nature is in her blood) until the present (often from sources who ask to remain anonymous out of fear SHE might find out they betrayed her). It’s all the details that would have made a fantastic Letterman interview, in my magazine/Wintour/fashion-infatuated opinion. That’s all.

Is it fall yet?!?

67151_013_3I know that the sundress-and-sandals weather has only just (almost) begun but I’m already looking forward to the fall. There are two culprits: The first? All the amazing shoots that have been going on for the September and October issue — there’s really nothing better than fall fashion, IMO. Also, I’m a little bit obsessed with ridiculously sexy, over-the-knee boots (like the ones pictured, that are already in-stores at Browns!). Trust me, everyone will be wearing ‘em!

What else has me longing for fall? After the jump!
