Survey: How far will you go for the patterned tights trend?

17318734_001_bThis fall’s been big on statement legwear: sheer and opaque tights are now patterned gallore. Call me “conservative” but my limit’s fishnets (or dressing up an all-black look with textured legwear that approximates the fishnet look). Last week I toyed (mentally) with the idea of rockin’ heart-print tights after recently seeing my favourite Brit, Alexa Chung rocking them. This week, I’m not sure they’re suited to my age style. Then, this morning while browsing a few of my go-to-latest-trend-recap sites, I came across this pretty Urban Outfitters pair followed by this scenario recipe for disaster– would you EVER wear these? Seeing them got me wondering how far the “new” takes on tights will go.

Seriously though, heart-print tights. Who’s wearing them?

Spirit fingers

Those 15˚C days Liv mentioned were definitely a bonus, but we Canadian gals know better than to presume this chilly weather isn’t here to stay. And although it’s tempting to hide under multiple layers of black and grey as we settle into winter, a dose of cheerful colour can go a long way when it comes to facing dreary winter days.

A colourful coat would definitely do the trick, but the easiest and most affordable way to brighten up your cold-weather look is with vibrant accessories, such as suede and leather gloves in happy hues like purple, turquoise and fuchsia. As a bonus, your hands will look lovely as you wave buh-bye to frostbite!

Real Inspiration: Dress up your do

headgear

As we’ve previously reported left, right and centre, the latest must-have accessory this season is some form of retro headgear. Bows, jewels, ruffles, tulle and feathers on headbands and clips aren’t reserved for gals on Gossip Girl or the English wedding-set. These accessories are taking centre stage and sometimes stealing the show. Just a few weeks ago I spied a number of gals attending LG fashion week sporting a variety of pieces – from demure to high-drama. Click on the jump to read more. Read the rest of this entry »

Battle of the fuchsia bags

marc-by-marcI think it’s safe to say that spring is here (temps in Montreal are supposed to reach 27 degrees tomorrow — knock on wood!) and my black & grey wardrobe is desperately seeking colour. Bottom line? I’m craving a lovely, splashy-hued handbag. I first fell for the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag pictured at Holts. The fuchsia is to-die-for, I love the shape but the price is a little bit steep for such a non-neutral colour. Then last weekend, my friend/soon-to-be-LOULOU-blogger Janna called me to tell me that she had found a really gorgeous bag for me at Urban Outfitters.

Picture — and most importantly, poll! — after the jump.
