Daisy by Marc Jacobs: Limited Edition

Daisy by Marc JacobsI used to be very loyal to my fragrance but in the last few months, I’ve been cheating on my original fave. I’ve been using several different ones lately and I have to say, I love changing things up. Each scent I own is different and matches with a different mood. This morning, I woke up to a beautifully sunny day and decided I wanted something feminine and summery, so I chose Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

The classic aroma is available in this limited edition bottle (isn’t it the cutest?) with blue flowers at all Pharmaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart locations in Canada. The blue flowers read spring and the aromas of vanilla, violet leaves and gardenia smell like it, too.

I like that this fragrance is just as sophisticated as I want it to be. I like for my perfumes and my clothing and everything about me to say feminine, not girly and not matronly either. Daisy is the perfect in between.

If you’re looking for the perfect summer scent, I definitely recommend Daisy. The limited edition bottle won’t be available for long. Luckily, the original bottle is super cute, too. Shop this new fragrance right here or visit the Daisy website for more info.

Are you shopping around for a fresh new scent this year or are you loyal to one particular aroma?

Montreal Fashion Week Results: Déjà vu-in a good way!

Last week was Fashion Week at Marché Bonsecours in the Old Port of Montreal. For four days, the posh district was busy with runway shows and after-parties.

This year’s Montreal Fashion Week (MFW) was full of unusual surprises. First, it was open to the public and not just industry insiders. Second, a crowd of bloggers made themselves comfy at the shows. Result: We were a much bigger crowd of spectators than usual. That being said, the event became larger than life and peaked the interest of people who have no idea that MFW has been around for ages already. This is great for Montreal but not-so-great for a journalist who needs to work in a more peaceful environment.

So far here in Montreal, we’ve had years where new design graduates participated in MFW and made it just too over-the-top. And if it wasn’t too much one year, it was too little. Some designers were hitting MFW with looks that were too old, too boring and too simple. After a few years of this, I started asking myself why Quebec designers just weren’t following the same trends as the rest of the fashion world. Were they just not interested in international fashion?

Well this time, they’re interested in it. So much, in fact, that they showcased the same trends-only two years after they became popular in the rest of the world.

Let me explain myself. At MFW this year we saw bold and embellished shoulders, sequins, military styles and flesh tones. Hello 2008! But despite that, I loved it. I loved it because it’s great to encourage local Canadian designers and because it’s amazing that they can compete with mainstream designers like Elizabeth and James and French Connection in the commercial part of the industry.

Here’s what I thought of some of the main shows at MFW last week: Read the rest of this entry »

Get to Holts this V-day weekend

Field of FlowersI’ve got great news for our Montreal readers. Holt Renfrew will be hosting one amazing event tomorrow, Saturday, February 13. To get men and women ready for V-day, Holts is inviting everyone (that’s right, everyone!) to get to the store tomorrow for a fashion show, hair touch-ups and more.

At 2:00 p.m., you can watch the runway show that will feature the hottest trends in lingerie from designers like Elle Macpherson, La Perla, Hanky Panky, D&G and Hugo Boss–among others. You’ll also see the latest in loungewear and fashion. The Max & Co. hair salon will be there, as well, to give complimentary hair touch-ups to customers and Yves Saint-Laurent will be giving makeup consultations with their new “Paris Je T’aime” collection.

I don’t know about you, but I’m more excited about prepping for V-day at Holts than I am about actually going out with my boyfriend. V-day’s overrated but who can resist free stuff?? Not me!

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part: there will also be chocolate tasting, gifts and draws. (I know…we stopped listening after the chocolate tasting part, too!)

Looking for last-minute V-day gifts? Shop here. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Headed to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC

Starting today until next Thursday, February 18, Fashion Week is in full swing in NYC. The shows at Bryant Park will reveal the hot new trends for fall-winter 2010-2011.

Thanks to Michael Kors, I’ll get the chance to be front row at some of the shows for two full days. I don’t even care to blog about anything but Fashion Week right now. Needless to say, I AM VERY EXCITED! Read the rest of this entry »
