First it was Black Satin. Then it was Jade and Particulière followed by this summer’s Nouvelle Vague. There’s no question that Chanel has been leading nail polish trends over the past few years, with some even arguing that they illustrated their cool factor as early on as 1994 with the cult shade, Vamp. The coveted brand’s latest must-have hue is Paradoxal (pictured) and it’s catching polish fiends off guard with the shimmery constellation-like results it yields. But rest assured, LOULOU’s self-proclaimed nail polish obsessed editors “promised” the It hue looks far more “out there” in bottle than it does lacquered on fingers tips. Phew! We thought we might have to justify how in the span of just one season we went from swearing off shimmery lacquer to wholeheartedly advocating it.
But don’t get too settled with this latest vampy hue– Chanel’s already onto the next best thing (like any trend setter would be). Their Khakis– a quartet of mossy shades– are just hitting shelves and with a wait list that’s already growing exponentially we’re sure these camo’ hues are the next best thing.
Is Paradoxal for you?

We are a nail polish obsessed bunch here at LOULOU so needless to say this caught our attention.
Janie Bryant (a.k.a the woman behind the Mad Men wardrobe phenomenon) has lent her talented costume eye to Nailtini (a California-based nail polish brand) with whom she’s created a limited edition capsule collection of 4 polishes. The Mad Men inspired shades, which will hit a select few of U.S pharmacies CVS and Duane Reade this fall were inspired by cocktail dress fabrics of the fifties like velvets, satins and lamés. The polish quartet will include Bourbon Satin (a brown), French 75 (a gold), Deauville (a gold platinum) and Stinger (and iridescent shade).
Nail polish is arguably the hottest (beauty) accessory these days and with Mad Men inspired fashion on everyone’s radar this fall (check out our September issue for the fall fashion 411) thanks to Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and well…Mad Men Janie Bryant, this exclusive Nailtini collection has success story written all over it!
Snatch one up if you’re headed stateside this fall and Twitpic us your Mad Men inspired mani so we can live enviably through yours!

While doing some routine online browsing this morning I came across an interesting development in the never dull land of nail polishes (after last year’s neon craze, anything is possible). Challenging a world where the perfect mani reigns supreme (how many of you deign to wear chipped polish?) this Australia-exclusive line of lacquer is shaking things up…down under for the moment.
Not to be confused with Minxing, another popular form of nail art making the manicure rounds of late, BYS Cracked Nail Polish sends a wave of small cracks over your fingernails five to ten minutes after application and presumably gives new meaning to chipped polish.
Purposely cracked nails…how about it? Although the polish is for the moment only available in Australia, would you wear it if you could?
