The past in the present: The Daily Front Row reports that Calvin Klein will be re-issuing the barely there white mini worn by Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. If the only dress you can distinctly remember from the cult 90’s flic is the Alïa, then here’s a scene refresher: “Cher, what are you wearing?” “A dress!” “Says who?” “Calvin Klein!” “Well, go put something over it!” “Duh, I was just going to!”
The minimalist mini is cool but I really want to see someone rock Cher’s yellow tartan kilt and body-con blazer combo like it’s ‘96 all over again.
Material gurl: Madonna’s got a Macy’s exclusive line of clothing launching aptly titled Material Girl and her daughter Lourdes is fronting the collection and testing her blogging chops while she’s at. From her spelling tactics to her expressions, she’s got all the pizazz of a budding teen. Mama Madonna might not be letting her dye her hair (black) till she’s 14 (in October) but Lola, who knows her likes (tie-dye is in) from her dislikes (gladiator sandals are so 2008) is hard-pressed to let her personality be sacrificed. And, we don’t suggest fighting her on the gladiator point, even if we’re huge fans of the summertime sandals!
Oh Canada: In honour of our home and native land’s 143rd birthday tomorrow, Forever 21 is honouring the celebrated day with a mega sale. We suggest picking up the red breton striped top for the occasion or the hooded coat to keep you warm during the fireworks.

I have a slight obsession with musicals.
Not the Broadway kind so much (though those are their own breed of enticing) but the recent TV show kind. Almost embarrassingly, my infatuation started with High School Musical (what may be more humiliating is that I actually own HSM 1, 2, and 3) and I won’t even tell you how many times I’ve watched Zac Efron HSM 3. After listening to Christine go on about Glee, the hot new musical comedy everyone was raving about last fall and watching the cast take home a Golden Globe this past February, I was finally intrigued enough to give in and see what all the buzz was about. Five minutes into my first episode and I was nothing short of s-o-l-d. Not to mention singing along in my living room.
After a brief hiatus (OK it felt like forever and I’m already counting down the months till Season 1 hits DVD), Glee’s finally back to its weekly scheduling and last night’s highly-anticipated Madonna-themed episode lived up to all the hype, if not exceeding it. The boys’ a capella version of What it feels like for a girl literally had my eyes fixated on the TV screen, while my favourite Gleek couple, Rachel and Finn (played by Canadian hottie, Cory Monteith) sang a rendition of Borderline that I wasted no time downloading off of Itunes. Other highlights included the Cheerios’ coach, Sue Sylvester’s Vogue and the full cast rendition of Like a prayer.
Two things happen when I watch these musicals. One, I wish I could sing (I’m nowhere near vocally gifted, so that one’s hopeless). And two, it makes me long for people to randomly break out into song. I mean really, who couldn’t benefit from a little mid-afternoon Madonna Express Yourself song and dance?!

This past weekend California’s Coachella kicked off 2010’s music festivals. Since music festivals notoriously draw a stylish set (I commend anyone who can balance comfort and practicality while looking good under the scorching sun), this seemed like the perfect occasion to inspire some music festival-worthy looks for the summer months ahead.
Whether you’re headed to Chicago’s Lollapalooza, Montreal’s Osheaga or just jamming in your backyard, these pieces are sure to inspire your next outdoor festival look! Don’t forget your SPF!

This has to be the chicest, gotta-have portable radio on the market. I adore the modern, cheerful design of the Tivoli Audio iPAL Radio in their newest colour: crisp white. Enhance a backyard BBQ party with tunes, drop it in a tote and take it to the beach (it’s rechargeable) or place it by the tub for a mood enhancing soak—and you’ll rest easy because its water resistant. Despite the tiny size, the sound is rich and crystal clear—and it easily hooks up to your iPod too. It’s the ultimate sleek gift for modern décor enthusiasts, music lovers and gizmo addicts alike.
$249, Tivoli Audio iPAL in white/silver.

Nashville’s all-American rockstars, Caleb, Jared, Nathan and Matthew (aka Kings of Leon) will follow in France’s notorious electric house musical export, Justice’s footsteps by being the next band to collaborate with creative group, Surface To Air for their next capsule collection (WWD).
S2A x KOL will reflect the band’s rocker ethos with pieces like bandanas and (of course) a sure-to-be-sell-out leather jacket. Described as a ready-to-wear and accessories line, the pieces will be available for purchase come January at S2A’s Paris store and stateside at Barneys New York.
Officially, it’s a menswear line but I’m guessing the staples will be hits with the band’s (model) girlfriends and their It-girl friends…not too mention girls like myself who have yet to find the perfect leather jacket and are pretty sure a S2A/rock star option has a damn good chance at being THE ONE!
