Planning on doing some spring cleaning soon? You read our minds! In fact, we already did our spring cleaning.
This past week, we gave our website a little cleanup to make your experience on our site even better. You may have noticed that our nav bar has changed a tiny bit, but don’t worry! All of your fave articles and tips are still here. We’ve changed the name of our Features sections to Fashion Gallery and Beauty Gallery but the content hasn’t changed one bit. Most of our feature articles contain lots of images for you to browse through so it just made sense to call them what they really are.
We hope we’ve made our site easier for you to navigate and that your future experiences with LOULOUmagazine.com get better and better. Have a look around the site and let us know what you think. Your feedback is important to us.
Flipping through our March issue, I’m sure you spotted a couple of our models wearing the latest bare leg styling technique: socks with heels. Yeap, socks, stretched half way up the calf paired with pumps, platforms, open-toed shoes… you name it! Once considered a god-awful, tourist-in-action fashion faux pas, this spring it’s poised to be the hottest new craze. Models on the spring Burberry runway sported nude platform heels with nude socks and right here on Canadian soil, models at Joe Fresh Style strutted in clogs paired with crisp white knee-highs–a look straight out of a retro ’50s movie. The nude-on-nude vibe is the easiest to wear—it looks like a pair of booties from afar—but to me, this styling technique is a very slippery slope.
So I gotta know: will you sport this cool, unexpected look when the snow starts to melt? Or are you going to steer clear of this trend and leave it in the hands (erm, feet) of the clueless tourist?
Don’t you just love an OMG I have to have that moment? It happened to me just yesterday. (To be fair, it happens pretty frequently, but then that’s one of the ‘draw backs’ of working for a fashion and beauty magazine—it’s so dreadfully painful on my eyes when I see my monthly, extremely well-used credit card statement, not to mention my pockets.) One of the LOULOU-ette’s waltzed into the office wearing a stunning cold weather sweater alternative: a cropped, chunky knit poncho. The same proclamation echoed around the office, “Christina, where did you buy that? It’s gorgeous!” Fortunately for her (and unfortunately for us) it was a hand-knitted gift from her sister-in-law. So, as any good shopping blogger, I proceed to spend the better part of the afternoon hunting for a similar looking pullover. Click to learn more. Read the rest of this entry »
