Glossed over It’s probably because of the trends in fashion lately (or maybe it’s just my love of Alexander Wang’s 90’s grunge IT pieces) but I’m on this nostalgic 90’s trip. Looking back, my mixtapes were built heavily around the Gin Blossoms, my notebooks were plastered with bits and pieces of the latest issues of YM and Seventeen magazines (I was never a Cosmo girl) and my scent was the Body Shop’s Vanilla perfume oil- every day, day and night. All those things were imperative to my daily routine but there was one thing I couldn’t live without—my 90’s staple: lip gloss. Not just any lip gloss either. Raspberry flavoured Bonne Bell Lip Smackers—I was obsessed. Stored in my pencil case (I was more into school supplies than purses at the time) and never far from my lips, I would go through a tube of the sweet and fruity scented sparkly fuschia stuff every other week. I also got a reputation for stocking the addictive beauty treat and ended up (reluctantly) supplying my best girls their beauty fix before, during and after class.
Times change It’s (sadly?) no longer the 90’s and I’ve given up lip gloss (in favour of unscented lipstick). The Lip Smacker aisle at the drugstore now serves as a constant reminder of a time gone by (as opposed to a stock-up opportunity). Rest assured the void’s been filled with equally addictive products the likes of nail polish and tinted lip balm.
Obsessed much Were you hooked on Lip Smackers too? Or Body Shop perfume oil (I know I’m not alone on that one!) Drop us a line in the comments.

I switched handbags this morning for the first time in a very long time and came to the conclusion that I carry way, way, way too many lip products.
