I am a huge fan of nail polish (and lip gloss), so I became ecstatic when I heard that Joe Fresh Style was launching a nail polish collection last week—and in true Joe style, its delightfully cheap and cheerful ($4 bottle or three for $10)! If you’re colour fickle (like me) then you’re going to dig all 27 shades—a shade to suit pretty much every mood or look. Feeling fun and playful? Paint on Mint, Butter or Faded Violet. Not ready to leave winter behind? Grab Ink or Prune. In a classic, oh-so-pretty frame of mind? Reach for Ballet Slipper or Buff. My top pick: Coral, the perfect accessory for our warm spring weather (to the right).

Day 4 of LG Fashion Week was a power house night—Joe Fresh Style, Pink Tartan, Andy The-Anh, and Sears’ Attitude label debuted. If you follow us on twitter, you’ll know that next season is going to be a sparkly one! For day and night, dazzling sequins and shimmering embellishments show absolutely no signs of slowing down. And I can tell ya, this LOULOU-ette is over-the-moon, thrilled to bits! Here are a few of my fave sparkly looks from last night’s shows.

Flipping through our March issue, I’m sure you spotted a couple of our models wearing the latest bare leg styling technique: socks with heels. Yeap, socks, stretched half way up the calf paired with pumps, platforms, open-toed shoes… you name it! Once considered a god-awful, tourist-in-action fashion faux pas, this spring it’s poised to be the hottest new craze. Models on the spring Burberry runway sported nude platform heels with nude socks and right here on Canadian soil, models at Joe Fresh Style strutted in clogs paired with crisp white knee-highs–a look straight out of a retro ’50s movie. The nude-on-nude vibe is the easiest to wear—it looks like a pair of booties from afar—but to me, this styling technique is a very slippery slope.

So I gotta know: will you sport this cool, unexpected look when the snow starts to melt? Or are you going to steer clear of this trend and leave it in the hands (erm, feet) of the clueless tourist?

Each LG fashion week, the big question on everyone’s lips: who will open the Joe Fresh Style show? This year’s answer: stunning Theodora Richards, daughter of Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards and ’70s supermodel Patti Hansen.  After a slight entrance fumble, she skipped out in the show’s central theme—underwear. Bras over tops, body-suits, and many “no-pant” looks a la Lady Gaga (important tip: the point wasn’t to suggest wearing your under things this way, but rather that Joe has great underwear, and lots of it!). The nearly white-buff palette combo (sprinkled with dusty pink and sunny yellow), was equal measure squeaky clean­­ and sexy secretary: crisp shirts and plenty of transparent blouses, gingham prints and heaps of short shorts, paired with white knee high socks, a few retro tortoise glasses and white leather clogs, no less! I spied a number of standout items going on my ‘must-shop-come-spring’ list: a pale peach Peter Pan collar mod-style jacket and darling rosettes on blouses and A-line skirts.

Joe Fresh Style delivered on the promise in its name—Fresh, and plenty of it.

Spring is in the air—well, if you follow fashion you know it has been for the last month and a half. Today Toronto Spring/Summer 2010 LG Fashion Week rolls into town and spring fashion mayhem will ensue. Between ogling at inspirational clothes, doling out air kisses, and sneaking glances at front row celebs, I will be reporting back to you about the coming and goings of the Canadian fashion scene—and what style you will love, covet and shop for this spring.
