Nexxus hair products hit Canada

Sleek MemoryIs there anything better than salon-quality hair products? Yes. Affordable salon-quality hair products. If you’re obsessed with having perfect hair (as I am) then I have some great news for you. Nexxus salon products are now available in Pharmaprix / Shopper’s Drugmart locations across Canada and they promise not to break the bank.

Accessible and affordable salon-quality haircare is like music to my ears. I had the chance to meet with Nexxus Canadian Editorial Stylist, Tony Masciangelo in Toronto last month and he showed me exactly how powerful these products really are. As you can tell by the photos, these products go a long way. Tony doesn’t advise anyone to attempt heading to the office with that hair but the point is that the products can do way more than you could ever imagine.

Models

Having coiffed the ‘dos of Hollywood A-listers like Taylor Swift (loving her right now!), Coco Rocha and Jessica Biel, Tony knows what it takes to get red carpet-ready hair. So I asked him to give me the deets on his fave Nexxus products.  (Btw, Tony says Jessica Biel has flawless skin in real life and hardly needs any makeup at all. I think we should hate her just a little bit more now!)

Tony Masciangelo styling

Among his faves is Sleek Memory ($12.99 — pictured above). This product is supposed to memorize your hair styling method and make it easier for you to style it the next time. I was the first to say, “That’s just crazy talk!” But I had my co-worker, Chadi, try it out and although the product is not a miracle treatment that will miraculously convert your perm into pin straight locks, it does make straightening a little easier. If you use this product regularly, your straightening regime should be quicker and simpler because your hair will fall into place with much less effort than before.

Tony’s also a fan of the Leave-in Botanical Conditioner, Comb Thru and Gorgeous Curls mousse. The names are all pretty self-explanatory. Some of these products will only be avilable as of February 2010 but there are still loads of fab Nexxus products waiting for you on the shelves at the pharmacy right now. With holiday parties galore, what better time to try out new hair products?

If you so manage to try a few out for yourself, let me know what you think.

More stars come out to play at TIFF

Adrian Brody at TIFF 2008It’s the halfway point of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and it just seems that stars are falling from the skies in TO. Unbelievable, every where your turn there’s another celeb to spot. On Monday night there was the Paris Hilton party which brought out throngs of Hollywood types (and their devoted, autograph seeking fans). And the premiers just keep on coming! Afiya mentioned to you in an earlier post that Adrien Brody was among the guests at Sunday’s LOULOU party. He is in town promoting his new film The Brothers Bloom, which costars the gorgeous Rachel Weisz and actor Mark Ruffalo. The madness at the LOULOU party was nowhere near as frenzied as his recent red carpet appearance, our events were more on the lounge-y low key side.

LOULOU also hosted the after party for the new Kate Beckinsale film, Nothing But The Truth. The stellar class of this political dram includes Alan Alda, Angela Bassett and Matt Dillon. We were plagued by cold rains on Monday — I was caught in it and drenched to the bone — so I missed the appearance by the stars at the party. But my LOULOU insiders assure me it was the place to be!

That aside, Ms Beckinsale is fast becoming quite the fashion icon. To the premier of the film she wore a fab cocktail dress.
