Chip and Pepper, the Canadian twins behind the namesake label.
After Hollywood, Winnipeg, Toronto and Kenora, Vancouver is getting its very own Chip+Pepper pop-up shop, where you’ll find both exclusive items and classic styles. It opens December 10th at Blushing Boutique (579 Richards St.) and will remain open through March.
Pssst! Rumor has it that Montreal and Toronto might be next on their pop-up shop circuit…

Fidelity's Super Stretch jeans
Taking a look around the LOULOU office, I’ve noticed that most of us don’t wear pants. No, we’re not emulating Gaga (though many of us do have Bad Romance on repeat) but we have a fondness for tights and leggings with dresses/longer tops. Hence, our jeans are not seeing the light of day as often as they used to and I must admit that when I opt for jeans, I’m not nearly as comfortable as I am in my daily go-to black tights.
Thing is, denim was a major trend on the SS10 runways. How are labels making us want to wear tight, skinny jeans again? They’re tweaking their denim to be extra-comfy stretchy: Most of Diesel’s styles have stretch now, Fidelity is introducing “Super Stretch” jeans, Second’s “Yoga Jeans” are available in more washes than ever and “jeggings” are available just about everywhere from Dynamite to Net-à-Porter.
So I need to know: Are you on board with this look? (Nay-sayers better have compelling arguments if they’re saying no to comfort!)

The missing link for my fall wardrobe? The perfect black bag -- love Ashley's here!
I did some closet cleaning over the weekend to start planning my fall shopping (and my NY Fashion Week wardrobe (!!!) but more on that in a later post). Aside from realizing that I should never, ever buy another $8 H&M tank top or Calvin Klein undies (they have their own respective drawers at this point), I noticed that I have already bought a few of my key fall pieces, including over-the-knee flat boots, some suede booties, distressed skinny jeans and a great zippered dress.
My job requires me to be head-over-heels into fall all summer long, so am I the only one who is currently obsessed with piecing together the perfect fall wardrobe? Bought anything that you’re dying to wear? Do you love fall as much as I do? Spill!

Everyone is buzzing about Gap’s new 1969 denim line and guess what? I can’t shut up about it either! Less than a month since the initial launch — and in the middle of a heatwave during which I cannot even think about putting on pants — I own two pairs. Go figure.
If you don’t know the story, here’s the short version: Gap’s jeans hadn’t been updated in a very, very long time. Head designer Patrick Robinson set out to change that. The design team spent a year and a half re-working all the denim and voila — Perfect Boot, Sexy Boot, Always Skinny, Real Straight, Boyfriend, Curvy and Long & Lean (the last two are new versions of old classics) — were born.
I beelined for the Always Skinny in Distressed (note: the tears are really subtle and look like the picture shown, not the promo pics I’ve seen in stores) and Dark. I also have my eye on Real Straight… and will probably buy them soon — Gap is offering $20 off all the jeans right now!
So have you tried the new fits? What did you think? Are you devoted to designer denim or do you like a great deal? And finally, how much did you love our August all-things-denim issue?
