Stella McCartney for Gap $34.50

Since volunteering in Uganda, HIV/AIDS has become a cause that’s very near and dear to my heart. So, how will I be showing my support for World AIDS Day? By snagging a Stella McCartney for Gap limited-edition T-shirt. For $34.50 you can rock a stylish tee and support a great cause, because 50 percent of the proceeds are going to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS in Africa.

Eyes on the Sprize

sprize1

Bargain hunters, be prepared to be blown away by Sprize, a new initiative from Gap (and available to West Coasters only… for now). The concept? Sign up for Sprize, shop at Gap and if anything you buy gets marked down within 45 days, the difference is credited to your account and you have a year to spend it. Translation: No more waiting for things to get marked down — you’ll automatically get the difference back!

How much do you love this idea? Think it’ll catch on? Can any Vancouverites provide testimonials?

Good news, Stella McCartney fans! The designer has signed on to design a second collection for Gap Kids and babyGap, set to land in stores next March.

No trendy tots in your life? Not to worry – with sizes up to 14, you can squeeze a little Stella into your wardrobe too! (This blogger might just happen to own the sweater in that pic.)

Real Inspiration: How to wear hot-hues & statement necklaces

combo-sm

In addition to giving you an up-close look at the hottest shoppable looks for next spring, Fashion Week is a great opportunity to check out what the stylish industry insiders are actually wearing. Among this well-dressed fashion crowd, black is usually the colour-of-choice, but last night I spied a couple of gals who embraced a real joie de vivre and put their best foot forward in eighties influenced hot-hues and chucky statement necklaces. Click on the jump below to learn more about their refreshing sense of style. Read the rest of this entry »

I love Gap 1969 premium jeans

gp673957-00vliv01

Everyone is buzzing about Gap’s new 1969 denim line and guess what? I can’t shut up about it either! Less than a month since the initial launch — and in the middle of a heatwave during which I cannot even think about putting on pants — I own two pairs. Go figure.

If you don’t know the story, here’s the short version: Gap’s jeans hadn’t been updated in a very, very long time. Head designer Patrick Robinson set out to change that. The design team spent a year and a half re-working all the denim and voila — Perfect Boot, Sexy Boot, Always Skinny, Real Straight, Boyfriend, Curvy and Long & Lean (the last two are new versions of old classics) — were born.

I beelined for the Always Skinny in Distressed (note: the tears are really subtle and look like the picture shown, not the promo pics I’ve seen in stores) and Dark. I also have my eye on Real Straight… and will probably buy them soon — Gap is offering $20 off all the jeans right now!

So have you tried the new fits? What did you think? Are you devoted to designer denim or do you like a great deal? And finally, how much did you love our August all-things-denim issue?
