Made you look, huh?! Every gal in the LOULOU office was green with envy last week as I had the pleasure of meeting the infamous Mr Big (aka Chris Noth of Sex and The City and Law & Order fame) at a Toronto shindig–he is the new face of Biotherm Homme. And just so you believe me, I snagged a photo with him as real proof.

Honestly, while I admire his work, before last week, I was not a huge fan. But in person, Mr Noth is completely swoon-worthy, exceptionally charismatic and slightly mysterious—and he had ever gal following him around like a lost puppy. Truth be told, I was little bummed that he wasn’t taller—but then I end up saying that about everyone. Being close to 5’11” and then adding a daily pair of sky-high heels, I find everyone is always disappointingly wee.
Following the event I handed my husband Brian Biotherm Homme latest anti-aging skincare product, Force Supreme Re-builder to test drive for the weekend and he gave it rave reviews. If your man is reluctant to put any kind of beauty product on his face at least he’ll appreciate the engineering (the cool soothing balm is distributed via three smooth metallic roller balls), and you’ll swoon for the masculine, Mr Big approved scent.
Biotherm Homme Force Supreme Re-builder ($60) hits stores and biotherm.ca in May.

I used to be very loyal to my fragrance but in the last few months, I’ve been cheating on my original fave. I’ve been using several different ones lately and I have to say, I love changing things up. Each scent I own is different and matches with a different mood. This morning, I woke up to a beautifully sunny day and decided I wanted something feminine and summery, so I chose Daisy by Marc Jacobs.
The classic aroma is available in this limited edition bottle (isn’t it the cutest?) with blue flowers at all Pharmaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart locations in Canada. The blue flowers read spring and the aromas of vanilla, violet leaves and gardenia smell like it, too.
I like that this fragrance is just as sophisticated as I want it to be. I like for my perfumes and my clothing and everything about me to say feminine, not girly and not matronly either. Daisy is the perfect in between.
If you’re looking for the perfect summer scent, I definitely recommend Daisy. The limited edition bottle won’t be available for long. Luckily, the original bottle is super cute, too. Shop this new fragrance right here or visit the Daisy website for more info.
Are you shopping around for a fresh new scent this year or are you loyal to one particular aroma?

This weekend Canada’s largest contemporary design show, the Interior Design Show/IDS10 lands in Toronto. If you’re hunting for modern home decor inspiration, or just want to ogle some of the best in world-class design from renowned or hot, up-and-coming talent (300+ exhibitors are on hand), then this is one show you don’t want to miss. I had a sneak peak last night and I’m now suffering from a serious case of home décor envy, not to mention the fact that I’ve got new ideas sprouting right, left and centre that I want to incorporate into my condo. Hmmmm, the Home Renovation Tax Credit expires at the end of the January, perhaps I need to get hustling if I want to take advantage of up to $1,350 in savings?
Not matter what your budget, you’ll find inspiration at every price-point. Below are a few images from exhibitors at this year’s show (clock-wise from top left): a budget-friendly Ikea living room, a sketch of the luxurious bathroom on display at IDS10 inspired by Calvin Klein’s perfume Euphoria, and a dream walk-in closet by LEMA and a ultra-sleek kitchen by Scavolini.
The IDS10 presented by RADO is open to the public on January 23 and 24 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. Tickets are available at the door or at interiordesignshow.com.

The LOULOU bloggers are back from the holiday break—happy 2010, one and all! I thought I would start the year off with a frivolous and glamorous posting. In December I was asked to rub shoulders with Canadian celebrities by taking part in a photo shoot to promote Canadian designers. The photo is now up on the website of The Red Carpet Room—a private showroom where celebrities and big-named personalities can borrow Canadian designer treads for red carpet events and public appearances. The fun-filled, day-long shoot was themed around “the different faces of fame” and we all donned sexy red carpet-worthy frocks paired with bright red lips and heavily painted brows, and oodles of accessories—from come-hither lace tights and chunky jewelry to retro hats (I’m perched on the stool in the back wearing a striking ‘40s inspired feathered headpiece)–and all 100% Canadian! We were divided into three groups and photographed seperately, then the seperate photos were pieced together to create a Vanity Fair-esque spread.

For all the beauty-addicts out there (I refuse to believe I’m the only one), the luxe Shu Uemura brand is making a special stop at Holts in Toronto this weekend. The brand’s principal makeup artist, Taca Ozawa, will be demonstrating the makeup’s potential to create artistic looks on some kimono-wearing models.
The best part? Makeup applications will be offered as will sketches by Rocco Commisso, a Japanese Manga Artist. Plus, if you purchase a pair of false eyelashes, you’ll get them applied by a pro for free. To guarantee your spot, book an appointment by calling Holt Renfrew in Toronto at 416-922-2333.
The event will take place in Centre Court at Holts this Saturday, December 12, 2009.
P.S. Isn’t the Shu Uemura counter at Holts (pictured) awesome? If any you TO gals hit this event, let us know how you liked it. Enjoy!
