These days I’m having such trouble deciding on what to wear. It’s cool in the morning, hot in the afternoon and chilly in the evening! So I turned to our favourite stars for some inspiration. I bring to you my selection of looks - some for hot days, some for cooler ones - in preparation for the arrival or fall. If only it wasn’t coming so fast!

The Victoria’s Secret Angels have landed!

groupvs

Today after much anticipation Victoria’s Secret opens the door of their very first Toronto store at Yorkdale Mall (it’s not Canada’s first, lucky Albertians got that honour early this month at West Edmonton Mall). It’s a huge, modern and sparkling store (literally, the floor tiles glitter!) and yesterday it was crawling with gorgeous Angels. At the official ribbon cutting ceremony, I chatted with supermodels Adriana Lima and Chanel Iman, and I’m telling you my girl crush quota has skyrocketed! To get the inside scoop on their must-have bras and Adriana’s new favoriate Toronto-based personality, click below. Read the rest of this entry »

Levi’s to launch curve-catering line of denim

levis-curveid

With the fashion industry’s penchant for a more buxom figure of late, this latest Levi’s strategy is a timely one.

The 157 year old company is introducing a new fit technology and subbrand to its line of women’s jeans this coming season. Levi’s Curve ID is going to up the denim brand’s ante in curvy and shape dimensions with three curve sizes; the slight curve, the demi curve and the bold curve. Levi’s believes the three styles will cover the body types of 80 percent of women around the world. A fourth fit with an even greater curve is slated to hit shelves in December.

Robert Hanson, the president of Levi’s Strauss America believes this new denim addition will “transform the way women think about jeans.” Adding that it’s a new way of thinking about denim that’s “based on shape rather than size.”

You Nguyen, the brand’s senior vice president of women’s merchandising and design points out that the distinguishing factor of this approach is that it “focuses on the curves of a woman’s entire body and not just her waist.” Amen.  (WWD)

Fall for the Savings

scarlett_leather_jacket_augustblogFall and back to school are already in full swing and if you’re like me, you’d rather hit the snooze button. What little summer we have in Canada should not be preempted with thoughts of wool sweaters, right? But the savvy shopper in me also knows that this is the perfect time to get that wool sweater on sale.

End of season sales are a great opportunity to get off-season items at rock-bottom prices. The Forever 21 summer sale has lots of fall items to choose from, and a loose-fitting sweater is already my transitional best friend – at $8.99! The Danier Leather sale is equally tempting, with leather jackets starting at $79 – I’ve fallen for the pictured $99 faux-fur collar brown leather jacket that would be an autumn favourite!

Pre-fall is also when you’ll find the best selection of merchandise and picking pieces that will transition from August into October is a money-saving must (I’m lusting after a Victoria’s Secret cashmere dress at just $58).

Share your favourite fall finds in our forum for a chance to earn a Burt’s Bees lip shimmer set!

Emma Watson chops it off

emma-watsonEmma Watson shocked the world this week when she chopped off her auburn locks (pictured left prior to the cut) for a blonder, pixie cut.  She told her fans via her Facebook page of the experience, saying it’s something she’s wanted to do for years (presumably her Harry Potter movie contracts had prevented her from doing so any earlier) and adding that it was “the most liberating thing ever.”

With her Burberry campaigns and growing presence in the fashion circuit, I think this bold cut makes sense from a fashion point of view (even if Watson did it for other reasons entirely), and might leverage her (budding) style icon status.

Love it or hate overall? (vote below)
