Headed to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC

Starting today until next Thursday, February 18, Fashion Week is in full swing in NYC. The shows at Bryant Park will reveal the hot new trends for fall-winter 2010-2011.

Thanks to Michael Kors, I’ll get the chance to be front row at some of the shows for two full days. I don’t even care to blog about anything but Fashion Week right now. Needless to say, I AM VERY EXCITED! Read the rest of this entry »

Working hard in NYC

Last Thursday I jetted off to New York to attend a swanky Chanel event. Since their big launch is still top secret, I will instead delight you with the glorious details of my journey. ;)

Where I stayed: The Standard in the Meatpacking District. Super-chic, its lobby was full of the fabulous set (lots of sky-high heels, skinny jeans, fur coats and big diamonds were spotted) and the cutest hip staffers (who must all be on the verge of getting that big break). My room was stylishly designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, had a view of the Hudson and one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever had the pleasure of curling up in. Stocked with Kiss My Face toiletries, the bathroom featured an open-concept shower and bath…something to take note of if you’re booking a room with your man (thumbs up) or your mom (thumbs down).

Where I ate: Touting itself as “not your daddy’s steakhouse” STK is one sexy meat market. Jam-packed, pumping killer tunes (The DJ was ah-mazing!) and serving incredible food and wine, this hot spot is also popular with celebs. While munching away on sliders, tuna tartar, porterhouse steak, parmesan truffle fries, and the likes, I spied DWTS competitor Kelly Osbourne, supermodel Iman with superstar hubby David Bowie, and singer Cassie.

The verdict: Since I love staying in fabulous hotels and eating at incredible restaurants and staring at famous people, it was pretty much a dream come true. Bisous à Chanel!

Lily Donaldson rocking the smoky eye

As the newly appointed web beauty editor (and makeup aficionado) I was totally captivated by the dramatic eye makeup at the Erin Wasson x RVCA runway show at NY Fashion Week last Friday.

Models in the show donned one of the season’s hottest makeup trends. Dramatic eyes are totally hot this year and I personally love them.

Find out how to get this runway chic beauty trend. Read the rest of this entry »

Manic Monday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

minkoff-girlsStarted at Jill Stuart at the New York Public Library (yes, where Carrie and Big almost got married). Aside from the stellar location, there were swarms of quasi-celebs, including a whole slew of Housewives (Kelly Bensimmon in a leather frock, Betheny Frankel, Amanda Bynes, Miss J and Nigel Barker (runway coach extraordinaire and noted fashion photographer, respectively, from ANTM)) A collection filled with studded and cutout minis, ultra-tight skinny pants, puffed sleeves and stud-adorned bustier dresses - perfect for a socialista’s closet.

Then it was off to Rebecca Minkoff’s SS10 presentation, and what’s starting to be déjà vu: cropped leather jackets, super short skirts, puff sleeved LBDs, cutout effects and a few florals thrown in for good measure. Especially covetable was her handbag collection, with cool stud patterns, chains straps and bright citrus colours.

What are the next New York Fashion Week shows I’m off to? Read the rest of this entry »
