Mineral eyeshadow? Yes, please!

Aromaleigh - MothAromaleigh - Arabesque

Aromaleigh - Mireille

Loose powder eyeshadows are some of my faves. I like to apply them with a wet brush for a darker evening look and with dry brush for a translucent daytime look. Aromaleigh (a US-based company) sent some samples my way and I really liked them. (My personal tip: always use a brush to apply loose powder makeup. You finger won’t work. It’ll only leave a powdery residue all over your cheeks.)

Mineral makeup is perfect for achieving flawless, lightweight coverage. Plus, these eyeshadows range from dark to bright to shimmering to matte.   But what I like most about Aromaleigh is the choice. There are almost 500 different shades and finishes to choose from. Though it can sometimes be tough pick the perfect one, I love being able to match my eyeshadow to my outfit without breaking the bank.

My personal faves from this line are Moth, Arabesque and Mireille (pictured). They have a lustrous, sparkling finish. I know mattes are in but I can’t help but love me some shimmer for the evening. The eyeshadows retail for only $8 USD each. With the current exchange rate, it’s almost the same in Canadian funds. You can purchase directly from the Aromaleigh website and they accept Paypal, as well. If you’re an avid online shopper like myself, then you know Paypal is always a trustworthy friend and a safe and simple way to buy.

If you’re not sure which shades are right for you, you can opt to purchase samples of the colours for only $1 USD. So you can try it out and determine whether or not you love it before you buy a full-size one.

Which eyeshadow shades are you lusting after? If you’re a brown-eyed gal trying to pass off the practically invisible green speck in your eyes as hazel eyes, then I suggest Arabesque. It really enhances the barely there green. Not that I know…because my eyes are hazel, not brown ;-)

Daisy by Marc Jacobs: Limited Edition

Daisy by Marc JacobsI used to be very loyal to my fragrance but in the last few months, I’ve been cheating on my original fave. I’ve been using several different ones lately and I have to say, I love changing things up. Each scent I own is different and matches with a different mood. This morning, I woke up to a beautifully sunny day and decided I wanted something feminine and summery, so I chose Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

The classic aroma is available in this limited edition bottle (isn’t it the cutest?) with blue flowers at all Pharmaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart locations in Canada. The blue flowers read spring and the aromas of vanilla, violet leaves and gardenia smell like it, too.

I like that this fragrance is just as sophisticated as I want it to be. I like for my perfumes and my clothing and everything about me to say feminine, not girly and not matronly either. Daisy is the perfect in between.

If you’re looking for the perfect summer scent, I definitely recommend Daisy. The limited edition bottle won’t be available for long. Luckily, the original bottle is super cute, too. Shop this new fragrance right here or visit the Daisy website for more info.

Are you shopping around for a fresh new scent this year or are you loyal to one particular aroma?

Love it: Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream Palette

Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream PaletteAs a beauty aficionado, I’ve tried my fair share of just about every makeup product out there. My most recent addiction? Make Up For Ever’s Camouflage Cream Palette in #1, Light to Fair Skin Tones. I love to wear  makeup just because I love experimenting with different colours, textures and finishes. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that no makeup looks can work when your complexion is off. That means when you have a zit, red spots or other tiny flaws.

Covering up my dark circles and red spots is a major concern of mine.  I have been using this palette (pictured) for a few weeks now and I love it. Mostly because it covers anything from a red zone to those pimple scars that seem to take weeks to disappear. Another great thing about it is that it’s best applied with your fingers. Just dab on a touch with your index finger and gently pat it. Quick and simple!

I finish off with loose powder and just like that, I have picture-perfect skin. The green (#17) is my ultimate fave. It may look weird to you because skin isn’t green, but it’s the only concealer that will truly offset redness. The 4 shades of beige work perfectly for my skin and if I get tanned, I can still find a shade that matches close enough. Plus, each colour in the palette is great for a particular problem like uneven skin tones, purple under-eye circles and more.

This palette comes in four different shade combos (from fair to deep skin tones) and is sold at Sephora and select Bay stores for $47.
