Happy New Year LOULOUmagazine.com readers!

With a New Year often comes a slew of resolutions. Some people want to take better care of their health, others want to get in shape, others make a pact to spend less. In that grand old tradition I, dear readers, have decided to make some shopping resolutions for 2010.
1. Think before I buy. I often find myself face to face with a gorgeous garment and I can’t say “no!” even if I may have 10 nearly identical pieces hanging in my wardrobe. My first resolution this year is to do a mental scan of my closet before taking that dress to the register - because 9 times out of 10 it is a dress.
2. Ask myself, “do this really look amazing on me”. I have the tendency to fall prey to trends knowing full well that they don’t always work for my figure or my lifestyle. Case in point: I recently (pre-resolution) succumbed to my desire for heavy knits. I bought this out-of-this world cable knit cardi only to have my beau comment that I looked like a 4-year-old lost in her mother’s sweater. This year I will look critically at myself before handing over the cash.
3. Invest in classics. I am getting to that age (yes, the big 3-0 is near) where a wardrobe needs a good ratio of classic pieces versus trendy pieces. As I exit my 20s in 2010, I think it’s time to make sure that ratio leans more towards the classics with trendy items to accent my personal style. Not the opposite. So this means more cashmere, more tailored skirts, a great white shirt and trench (yay!).
4. Shop online more. In 2009, I increased my online purchases and am happy to report that there is no turning back. Thanks to VIP sale sites, discount sites and the increasing diversity of e-tailers there is more and more awesome goodies to be had online - and at AMAZING prices. It’s time to put our shopping inhibitions aside and shop more online if only for the convenience and the good prices.
So, these are my shopping resolutions. Do you guys have any of your own? Please share.
