Surf’s up — and happy Canada Day

Last weekend, Roxy hosted a group of Canadian and U.S. editors in Montauk, NY for some surfing lessons. We rocked flip-flops and neoprene (and later, wetsuit sunburns) with our designer shades and channeled our inner Kelly Slater in the company of Roxy pros Catherine Bruhwiler and Sarah Burke.

Roxy Surf Camp home base -- the tent!

After a hard day of ripping it (and, admittedly, a few gnarly wipe-outs), it was off to hot spot The Surf Lodge to catch all-girl L.A. band The Like and a do a bit of celebrity-spotting (ie. True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten. Swoon.). Turns out we weren’t the only ones with our eyes on the stars: Rumor has it that casting agents were hunting for new cast members for The City on the same night.

The Like at The Surf Lodge, Montauk

So while everyone is prepping for Canada Day festivities, I’m reminiscing about Montauk, sexy surfer-boy instructors and visions of B-list couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo canoodling outside the Montauk Yacht Club, a.k.a home sweet home.

If anyone needs me this weekend, I’ll be sitting poolside, shopping roxy.com for this, this and this, and dancing around to The Like. Anyone know a good Nick Lachey body-double I can borrow?

Celebrate National Denim Day with BCBG jeans

pbcbg1-7157015_alternate1_dt

If you’re in the market for a pair of super-flattering jeans (and who isn’t always on the prowl for that perfect pair?!), head to a BCBG store today. Why BCBG? Because while the label is best-known for its to-die-for-frocks, its denim collection is quite extensive, affordable and the fit is incredible (Seriously: I think I tried on every style and they were all perfect.) And why today? Because in honor of National Denim Day, profits from the sale of jeans will benefit the CURE Foundation, plus you’ll be entered in a draw to win a $1,000 shopping spree at a BCBGMAXAZRIA store. (If you win, I’m sort of obsessed with jeggings. Size medium. I’d be very grateful. Thank you.)

P.S. I picked up the Myles Denim Legging (of course) pictured, Rosalie went with the Parker Denim Cropped Pants… which style do you have your eye on?

My top 3 obsessions from Gap FW10

If you’re following LOULOU on Twitter, you already know that I was in NYC earlier this week to hang out with Patrick Robinson check out the FW10 collection, including the newly re-launched pants. From flattering skinnies (I should know, I was wearing a pair yesterday!) to a leg-lengthening bootcut, Gap will be the place to go for the perfect pants come fall. But truth be told, I wasn’t surprised: I’m already a big fan of Gap jeans and knew Robinson and his design team could work the same magic on pants.

What did surprise me? After the jump — the three pieces that blew me away.

Cross-body chic at Aldo

Deierlein at Aldo

Deierlein at Aldo

Am I the only one going crazy for cross-body bags these days? My closet is filled with totes and clutches but lo and behold, I do not own a single cross-body bag (full disclosure: practicality isn’t always my number one priority!). Needless to say, the focus of my most recent shopping sprees has been finding the perfect daytime bag that will leave me blissfully hands free.

The winner? This number from Aldo: Perfect size, expensive-looking hardware and in an ideal neutral to go with spring’s utilitarian vibe. Oh and it’s  a steal at $80 — especially for real leather! — leaving me with some money to splurge on an evening-worthy style. Net-à-Porter, here I come! Have you found your perfect spring bag yet? Twitpic it to @louloumagazine

P.S. While you’re on the Aldo site, don’t miss the campaign video shot by Terry Richardson and featuring Jessica Stam. Loves!
