Today may just be the saddest day of the year
Were you glued to the riveting season finale of Mad Men like I was? Before I go any further, let’s take a few minutes to dish about last night’s episode: am I alone in being completely baffled by Betty’s interest in Henry? And poor Don—he really had a mind-bending week, huh? I am incredibly relieved to see smoldering Joan back in the “office” and conservative Peggy revealing a new feisty edge. I was praying to spy Sal but no such luck—I suppose some appearances will have to wait until Season 4. Click on the jump to read more.
Now that TV’s most visually beautiful program has ended for another year, I’m feeling entirely deflated. To fill the hole left in my heart, I did a little online shopping in search of some of the prominent style accents seen in this season and to transport myself back to late 1963. Here are a few things I’m coveting that can easily be incorporated into a modern 2009 look–and all available at stores right now!
Shopping always helps mend a saddened heart, no?
Clockwise from top left: Wool felt cloche with jet stones, Le Chateau, $39.95; YSL Rouge Vouplte (#17 Red Muse), $34; Faded rose sweater cardigan, Forever 21, $34; Knee-length wool cool with rabbit fur-collar Rudsak, $675; Brazil pattern silk twill scarf, Hermes, $375 USD; Soho sparkle necklace, Banana Republic, $110.

I am so depressed that Mad Men is over for another season. Stupid Henry Francis. I thought Betty would be more sympathetic to Don’s story. Alas. I too will console myself in the pretty things from 1963. I’m digging the red lipstick and the silk scarf, two items I currently hold in my possession.
