Back in June, Janna thought there was something wrong with her head: Hairbands just didn’t look right on her. I felt the same way at the time. However, we’ve both since purchased a few styles and they look fabulous, if I do say so myself. In fact, they’ve now grown into a little bit of an obsession so when Bambako’s lookbook came across my desk inbox, I was smitten. New Jersey-based designer Abigail Ricarte makes the most gorgeous, one-of-a-kind pieces so I decided to ask her a few questions about the latest incarnation of the statement accessory.

Why do you think headbands are so popular right now? I definitely think the main influence on the trend is Gossip Girl. Women just want an easy update for their everyday look. Headbands add a touch of sophistication or fun to any outfit: it’s a statement piece that’s easier to wear than a bold necklace or bright coloured lipstick.

Can anyone wear them? Yes! I feel like there are certain styles for certain people but generally, headbands are universal. It’s a matter of confidence.

What is your must-have style in your collection? I am in love with the “Chrisera” headband — it’s my go-to for everyday and going out. It’s strong and cool yet pretty. Other must-haves are “Holler,” “Shout Shout,” and “Outside Voice”: They just exclaim “Here I am!” Love them so much!

So there you have it: It’s Blair Waldorf’s fault if we’re all obsessed with putting pretty things on our heads and it’s all about confidence if you’re going to pull the look off!

Are you into headbands too? Have you found the perfect one? Spill!
