Yes, editors tend to overuse the word “statement,” so call ‘em whatever you like: Bold, oversized, over-the-top, huge, giant… Whatever. The point is: The number of so-called statement necklaces in my jewellery collection has been steadily growing over the past few seasons, to the extent that I’d basically forgotten all about earrings. But now, as the statement earring movement gains momentum, I can’t stand the sight of my dainty “diamond” studs. Unfortunately, since I’m ultra-picky, I haven’t bought many pairs yet but I did, however, fall in love last week.

I discovered Montreal designer Tamara Bavdek thanks to Rosalie (She is the intrepid shopper behind the Buy of the Day – this is the original post). I was attracted to the peacock-esque earrings that were featured and when I clicked to Tamara’s “This Ilk” Etsy shop, I found/fell in love with the beauties pictured. Gorgeous right? And they’re made out of lace so they are ultra-light. I haven’t even worn them yet and I’m already coveting another pair…

Clearly, I am sold on the statement earrings trend — Are you? Or are you still loving statement necklaces? Is anyone brave enough to wear ‘em together?
