Shipping to Canada: An online shopper’s dream
If you read my most recent post about eBay, you know I’m an online shopaholic! As an avid online shopper, I’ve come across the “We do not ship outside the continental U.S.A.” notice one too many times.
So let me be the first to publicly thank Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus for their recent announcement that they will now be shipping to Canada through online purchases.
Canadians need love too.
I literally jumped for joy when I heard the news a few weeks ago. In the past, I’ve actually seen some US sites that ship to Uruguay and not to Canada. Are you kidding me? Is that supposed to be a joke? Is it that inconceivable for Americans to believe that people who live in igloos and hop on a dog sled to work in the morning like to look fashionable, too? (I honestly hope that’s not really the common belief.)
But honestly, I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to see something you love and not be able to get within arm’s reach of it simply because of where you live. It’s almost as awful as standing in front of the Prada store in Rome and realizing you got there too late to even pretend you can buy anything. (See photo. It was a devastating experience for me.)

But it’s not just about the shipping. This season, Michael Kors designed a pair of boots I’d sell my soul for. I first saw them on the MK website, so I called in to find out where I could get them in Canada. The answer? One of the only pieces of the collection NOT available for sale in Canada. What a cruel twist of fate!
U.S. stores, designers, etc.: Take a hint from Bergdorf and Neiman. Canadians need love, too!
