Gucci-fying my fall wardrobe
Last week I spoke to you about my love for all things Gucci. I had promised that I would give you a few cues to help Gucci-fy your wardrobe for fall. I have done some searching and have found that there is a lot out there that can easily lend itself to the Cossack-Rocker Chic aesthetic I so yearn to copy.
Here’s what I’ve picked
I’m a fan of Montreal designer Valérie Dumaine. I love the simple European-inspired look of her designs. They are retro but modern and have certain je ne sais quoi that I adore. When I spotted the Lola dress, I knew that it was going to be one of the cornerstones of my fall wardrobe because it could lend itself to many looks. Paired with tights and a belt it could be easy for work and play.
To play up to boho chic side I will need to bring in some tougher elements, though. A pair of rugged equestrian boots always do they trick. There is something edgy about these one’s from Steve Madden . The over-the-knee height, flat heel and fringe just scream Siberia.
The next key piece is the right bag. Matt & Nat have released a fab fall collection. Their vegan-friendly bags have an urban edge, and a toughness that will work great to balance the girly-ness of the dress. The Jorga bag has a chic finish, and I love the front zip pocket. A bonus: Matt & Nat bags are built sturdy. I’ve had one for three years and it has traveled with me to Paris, Nice, Toronto and back again. And survived day-to-day abuse on public transport.
I am still hunting for that Cossack-inspired jacket. I am thinking that I will need to scour some vintage shops for that one and the perfect scarf. I might need to take a trip to TO to explore Kensington Market’s hidden treasures.
