In the mood for a snood?

snood

Despite their super-trendy status this winter, I have been hard-pressed to find snoods that meet my criteria: they must be very bulky and must wrap around my neck at least twice. Hence, you can imagine how happy I was when I received a package containing the perfect one — in my favourite colour, no less! — from Spratters & Jayne. Handmade with luxe Peruvian Highland Wool, they ring in at a slightly-sticker-shock-inducing $164 but I can guarantee that one of these beauties will a) earn you a zillion compliments b) last several seasons c) keep you ultra-warm and chic and finally d) cure the mid-winter blues. Money well spent? I’d say so: Mine has been looped around my neck permanently for weeks!

Urban Decay hits Shopper’s Drug Mart

Alice in Wonderland - Urban DecayVery recently, Urban Decay makeup products made their way into Shopper’s Drug Mart (or Pharmaprix for my Quebec peeps). The colourful makeup line–who’s palettes I am addicted to–are normally found at my second home Sephora, but now they’re making their way into your local pharmacy.

For now, only the ladies of Garden & Rossland in Whitby, Ontario get to take advantage of this as that’s the only Shopper’s location carrying the brand, but I don’t think it will be long before more and more locations across Canada follow suit.

I really like the idea of being able to browse and pick up trendy must-haves while shopping for my everyday necessities. It’s a real time-saver.

Keep your eyes peeled around your local pharmacy for fab makeup products from Urban Decay, like this adorable Alice in Wonderland palette that’s just too cute for words! It retails for $52 and includes two eyeliners, one primer and 16 warm, springtime eyeshadow hues.

Are you already an Urban Decay fan? What are your fave products?

Lancôme gears up for the Olympics

Gold FascinationThe Vancouver 2010 winter games are just around the corner and Lancôme is ready to show their support. Their new limited edition collection is called Gold Fascination to reflect the gold medals pursued by female Canadian athletes. The shimmering collection was designed by one of the world’s most influential photographers, Raphael Mazzucco and his wife, Lisa-Marie.

I got the chance to speak to Raphael about the collection and find out what the story behind the makeup is. “The whole inspiration is the theme of Canadian female athletes,” he says. “Determination, perseverance, something to attain, the highest level, like in the games.”

The new collection is available for a limited time only at The Bay. The eyshadow quad (pictured) retails for $48. The collection also has Color Design Blush ($38) in two different shades, L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick ($35) in three different shades and La Base Pro ($42)–my personal fave. It’s a makeup primer that holds your makeup in place all day long. It’s become my new can’t-live-without product.

The new collection is out right now so you can check it out. Plus, if you happen to be in Vancouver this Sunday, February 6, you can meet Raphael at The Bay between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.  “I hope that the art will inspire people and make them think of things that make them dream and leave them with a good feeling,” Raphael says about Gold Fascination.

Lusting after more Olympic-inspired products? Shop our Vancouver 2010 store for loads more great stuff just in time for the games.

Must-have: Estée Lauder’s Michael Kors Hollywood Collection

Estée Lauder's Michael Kors Hollywood Collection

If you’re a Michael Kors fanatic, the you can’t afford to miss out on Estée Lauder’s limited edition spring collection. The Hollywood Collection is available at select counters across the country but only for a limited time. So if you loves you some MK, then get your beauty fix now!

My personal fave is the creamy Starlet Peach lipstick. Aside from the trendy shade, it’s soft and delicate. The entire collection is centered around one of spring’s biggest beauty trends: coral and peach. This season, take a step back from the black smoky eye and lighten up with the shade of the season.

The Michael Kors Hollywood Collection products range in price from $25 to $45 and are also available in bright berry shades (another hot trend for spring 2010). Plus, it’ll match perfectly with your Michael Kors shades, no?
