Cheap doesn’t mean useless. You can save money and still get a fabulous gift for everyone on your list. I like to think I have pretty good gift ideas that save me lots of money and always get a positive reaction. So I decided I’d share with you all…yet again.

Tomorrow marks the annual Whodunit Mystery Art Sale hosted by Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) and Orangina. A very cool concept, from November 19 (tomorrow!) to 21 in the OCAD Auditorium there will be over 1000 pieces of art for purchase. The twist? The buyer won’t know who created the artwork until it is unveiled on Saturday. A ton of Canadian talent has participated– everyone from literary giant Margaret Atwood to acclaimed painter Charles Pachter has donated their work. Each piece will be sold for $75 and the proceeds go to the library and new student learning centre for the school. Buy it ’cause you love it and you may wind up with a major work of art!

I’ve already spoken about how adding your name to a store’s mailing list can keep you in-the-know about special sales… and the same goes for e-stores! ‘Tis the season of Friends & Family sales and guess what: Most stores consider those subscribed to their mailing list “friends”! For example, one of my favourite Montéal boutiques (which just launched its online shopping site) is having a one-day only online and in-store V.I.P blowout. All the details after the jump!
